The practice of professional production and operations covers persons using titles such as directors, general managers and controllers of manufacturing or plant operations, operations directors as manufacturing/plant/factory manager, operations manager, production manager and others whose responsibilities or job descriptions are linked to production and operations both in the public sector and private sectors.

The following job holders are also qualified to register:

Executives in Quality Assurance and Quality Control, Maintenance, Engineering, Stores, Warehousing and Procurement & Materials Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Operations, Project Management, Transport Operations, Safety, Environmental and Security Operations and so on. They may work in manufacturing or service industries.

Nigerian Institute of Production Management is the regulatory authority for the practice of Production and Operations Management in Nigeria.
