The Nigerian Institute of Production Management (NIPM) as the nation’s pioneer association of production and operations management has been in operation for over 20 years. NIPM is a notable professional development facilitating institution (PDFI). It has been a leading player of repute in building professional competencies required for high performance in production and operations supervision and management jobs in various industrial sectors nationwide.
NIPM is committed to the advancement of the Production and Operations Management profession and the promotion of the integrity of POM practice as key element of organizational strategy.
Founded in 1987 by Dr. Olaniyi OPanuga, FNIPM, the institute has both corporate and individual members across the nation’s industrial sub-sector including Federal Government owned organisations, multinationals and leading indigenous manufacturing companies.
The institute was registered on the 20th July, 1998 with the following objects:
1. To regulate the standards of practice and the promotion and advancement of the profession of production and operations management in Nigeria.
2. To provide professional education, training, publication and management consultancy services in all aspects of production and operations management.
3. To establish and manage training institution and centres and conduct examinations competency tests and administer awards of certificates, diplomas and other qualifications solely or in partnership with universities, polytechnics or other educational/ training establishments or organizations.
The Institute is not only certified to train but also have powers to certify organizations and individual that meets the required professional standards.
NIPM promotes professional education and training for a greater efficiency, effectiveness and general resource optimization with the aim of facilitating productivity and industrial development. It promotes continuous advanced learning and improvements, high standards of ethical conduct, World Class Operations Management (WCOM) Practices and the sharing of knowledge and the best practices among practitioner’s nation’s wide. Knowledge and Professional practice of Production and Operation Management is critical to productivity, quality, safety, profitability, successful entrepreneurship, industrial development, environment sustainability and national economic growth.
