The myriad of challenges facing manufacturers in Nigeria has been a subject of heated national debate over the years. As the professional body regulating the standards of practice of Production and Operations Management in Nigeria we are concerned. We have carried out intensive research across the various sectors of the nation’s economy on the subject. • Identify chief drivers of cost of manufacturing, supply chain and logistics and related performance metrics
• Evaluate the forces of change, disruption and technological innovation that are re-defining the world of manufacturing, supply chain and logistics vis-à-vis local constraints and uncertainties.
• Review the traditional “prescriptive” methods of cost reduction in supply chain, logistics and manufacturing and their limitations vis-a vis the professional approaches beginning with the issues of responsibilities, accountabilities, skills gaps, ethics etc.
• Discuss the future of manufacturing and the roadmap for competing globally through operating efficiencies.
• Deliberate on Lean Manufacturing and its synergy and synchronization with Supply Chain and Logistics Operations-Beyond alignment and unsustainable cost-cutting measures.
• Teach techniques for reducing cost by 50 percent
• Adopt creative methods of managing and improving operating costs and learn seamless foundational approaches to avoid a “brick wall” during implementation.
