Dr Olaniyi Opanuga president of Nigerian Institute of Production Management –NIPM has commended Nigerian engineers for their role in production organizations nationwide and globally. He made this remark at a national workshop organized by NIPM recently in Lagos.

 

 

Engineers need professional production and operations management skill sets for improved performance in the design and creation of systems, development and improvement of people, materials, supply chains, processes, products, services, maintenance of plant, utilities and infrastructures as well as general operations management in the contemporary, 4IR – driven global economy.

 

Production management and engineering are closely connected. Engineering research and development (R&D), designs, building or construction, installations and maintenance are incomplete without a means of production and production management-the effective utilization of productive resources; the management of transformation systems and processes.

There are production, manufacturing and industrial engineers who need to expand their knowledge and skills and advance their careers in production and operations management.
