Nigerian Institute of Production Management (NIPM) founded in 1987 and registered under the laws of the Federation on July 20, 1998 to carry on the promotion, advancement and the regulation of the practice standards of Production and Operations management in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Governing Council of the Institute currently led by Dr. Olaniyi Opanuga, FNIPM is abreast of the operational scope and global trends in the profession.

Production is a broad area covering such economic sub-sectors as manufacturing, agriculture, mining, energy-electricity, oil and gas, construction and services while operations management is applicable to a wide range of roles in the public and private sectors. All departments in every organization, whether manufacturing or service have executives and managers who lead their teams for success in day-to-day operations.

The Institute has corporate and individual members across various industrial sectors. NIPM has made tremendous impact partnering with Federal Government, academic institutions, public sector organizations and regulatory institutions, manufacturers associations multinational, international and indigenous manufacturing companies for over 30 years. NIPM has helped academics and practitioners including CEOs, Operations directors, general managers, plant/factory/manufacturing managers, logistics and supply chain managers, quality managers, safety, health and environment managers, engineering, technical services and maintenance managers, project managers and others to advance their careers.  Of great significant is the promotion of professional ethics and code of conduct among its members.

The Institute has impacted on the Nation’s industrial development and economic growth through its training and capacity building progammes, research and publications, professional education schemes, career advisory and consultancy services. Thousands of employees and managers have been mobilized for workshops, seminars and national conferences in which the Presidency and State Governments participated over the years.
