DR OLANIYI OPANUGA, DG- CERTIFIED INSTITUTE OF APPLIED MANAGEMENT ADVOCATES APPLIED TRAINING IN ORGANISATIONS DURING AND POST COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The Director-General of The Certified Institute of Applied Management And Administration- CIAMA, Dr. Olaniyi Opanuga has advised Human Resources Directors and Learning And Development (L&D) Managers to adopt practical approaches for appropriate solutions in their organisations even at this period of COVID-19 pandemic and after.

According to Dr Opanuga, COVID-19 pandemic has impacted Training And Development seriously in organisations in 2020 as an offshoot of the massive disruptions to supply chains and general business operations globally but efforts need to be made to ensure that capacity building and professional development remains on the front burner of every company’s operations.

“Staff training is vital to rapid recovery and growth. Training can help to address the new challenges occasioned by the global economic recession and specifically the distribution to production and supply chain structures, systems and processes”.

According to Dr. Opanuga new guidelines need to be established for both open and In- house training in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) framework by organisations and training consultants but nothing should stop learning and development.

The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) protocols for re-opening of schools and back- to- work guidelines adopted by Manufacturing companies are instructive for safe learning and work practices.

L& D can also be used as a veritable vehicle for workers’ education, change skills training and human resource resilience building for quick operational recovery, Dr. Opanuga explained.
